So you need help Updating your Microsoft Office ? Below are the steps to help learn how to update your software.
   
STEP 1
  • As always make sure you back your data up before you every start any of the following steps.
  •    
    STEP 2 Unlike Microsoft Windows and most antivirus programs Microsoft Office does not update automatically.
    These steps must be done periodically to keep you Office applications patched and running securely.

    Use Internet Explorer and point to http://officeupdate.microsoft.com
    Click on Check for Updates

       
    STEP 3 NOTE: Depending on the version of MS Office and how it was installed you may be prompted to have ready the original installation CDs. Proceed anyway. Even if prompted initally for the CDs, you may not have to use them. If the process halts until the CDs are inserted and you can't locate the original CDs, cancel the update and contact your Regional Tech to see if and how replacement can be obtained.
       
    STEP 4 You may be prompted to install an ActiveX Control. If a tan info bar appears below the address box, right click on the info bar and left click on the Install ActiveX Control menu option. If you are not prompted to install an ActiveX Control, it was probably installed earlier. Proceed to Step 6.

       
    STEP 5 If you were prompted to install an ActiveX Control, you will now be prompted to click Install.

       
    STEP 6 You should then be presented with a list of available updates. Some updates may have to be installed before others.
    You'll have a chance to install the others later. Click on the Agree and Install button. Note the approximate download time. This process may take some time depending on your connection speed and local network traffic.

       
    STEP 7 You'll see a progress bar indicating time remaining.

       
    STEP 8 After the initial updates are installed you'll see a Results screen. Click on the Finish button.
    If you're prompted to restart your computer, please do so and start again with Step 2.

       
    STEP 9 If some updates had to be installed before others, you'll see the screen below.
    Click on the "Check for updates I still need to install" link.
    If all of the updates could be installed at once, you'll see the screen in Step 12.
    If so, skip to Step 12.

       
    STEP 10 Click on the Agree and Install button to install remaining updates.

       
    STEP 11 You should now see a Results screen. Click on the Finish button.

       
    STEP 12 When all of the current updates have been installed you'll see the screen below.
    Close Internet Explorer. Congratulations, Microsoft Office is up-to-date !

    If you see the screen in Step 9, there are a few more updates to be installed. Continue with Step 9.
